Toasty warm

Autumn fading, winter comes
Frosty mornings, tingling thumbs,
Cold red noses, cold red cheeks,
Warm woolly socks for icy cold feet,
Gloves and coats and hats for all!
Now King Winter, you may call.
author unknown to me.

A recent finished project - wrist warmers / fingerless gloves to keep the little ones warm on frosty mornings.

We have had a few strong frosts since I completed these and I must say their little fingers do seem warmer though I am sure that they do not suffer from cold fingers as much as their Mama does.

I am working on a pair for me and have set myself a goal of having them ready for when school resumes next week.

My girls in their Rainbows

I finished the rainbow tunic that I was working on for H a fortnight or so ago - not much chance to sit and upload the photos hence the delay. This is the tunic that was to be an Easter gift then a birthday gift (mid April) and was finally a 'here you go I finished it' gift!

These photos were taken on the morning of the first day that H could wear her tunic. She loved matching baby L. The skirt is a lot fuller that the one that I made last winter but I think it works well and as H discovered when we arrived at our playgroup that day the fullness means that she can pull it up to make some pretty neat wings - heheh.

The pattern is "Bloom" by Georgie Hallam but I worked the skirt without the lace work making it the perfect no thinking knit for me.

Just because

While I try very hard to finish a project before starting a new one (or else end up with too many UFO’s), I also like to have a few little things on the go and at different stages so that if I get a spare three minutes I can squeeze in a little handwork.

These little ladybugs were a ‘just because’ project. Tutorial found here. Perfect as a little project with no deadline. Perfect just because.

H watched the entire process over the space of a few weeks and as soon as the first one was done she took it off to our little felt playscape to settle in and wait for the other one to be done.

Perfectly sized for H's little hands

Rainbow needle felted faries

In the last week of being pregnant with baby L I was bitten by the needle felting bug ( it was great because it helped to distract my mind from the fact that the baby was overdue). I wanted to make a mobile for the baby that I was waiting to meet and as I played around with the roving these little fairies / angels came into being.
I ended up making eight of them in rainbow colours (of course) using beautiful roving from here and here.

The roving used here was from Fiona Duthie

Even though all the needle felting was done before baby L arrived they are still sitting in a little basket on my work table as i am unsure how I should string them up and I have not had time to play around with them. I am hoping to have some time in the coming weekend.

This eighth fairy / angel is not part of the mobile - I was just having too much fun

Valentines Swap

I recently participated in a Valentines Swap hosted by Linda at Natural Suburbia.
My swap partner is also interested in Waldorf education so I created a little something for their seasonal table.

I included a kangaroo shaped biscuit cutter for fun. Apparently her your son had lots of fun with it.

In return I received a needle felted heat garland, heart shaped beeswax floating candles, oat bath sachets and some chocolates or candies as my partner called them.

Please excuse the very wrinkly silk play cloth that I used for a background. I must have looked better in real life or maybe I just didn't notice

I love participating in swaps as it gets me creating. Do you like being involved in swaps? Do you know of any good swaps out there at the moment?
